In the IT world, there are usually quick fixes to big problems! How many times have you heard ‘just turn it off and back on again’ and yes, usually a restart does just the trick.

Hundreds of computers of all shapes and sizes are sent to us at the Harrogate based drop-off centre each week and not one has the same problem – this would make our job easy! We know each machine has an anxious owner awaiting our call. Will it ever light up again? Will I ever see my data again? Has this virus finished my trustee workhorse off?

Since we opened ‘officially’ a couple of months ago, we have seen more Vista laptops than anything else. Usually the laptop is rather abruptly handed to us with the words ‘it’s really slow, I can’t carry on like this, we need to go our separately ways’ at this point we feel bit like relationship councillors’. We know! The combination of Vista and even the fastest computer can be trying. That said, the combination of Vista and anything can be pretty trying – Vista isn’t in a hurry!

So what do we say? Turn it off any on again? That doesn’t really work! But we do know the answer!

Windows 7! It is marvellous! A Windows 7 upgrade from Vista is a great move! All your programs, settings, and data stays just where it is but under Windows 7 suddenly there is a new lease of life. Speed, wonderful speed! Stability and reliability!

Don’t just take our word for it. If you’re not completely happy with your Windows 7 upgrade, don’t pay us a penny for our time.
